ADAM JOINS ING RENAULT F1 TEAM FOR 2009

As the ING Renault F1 Team gathered at l’Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysees in Paris, it was confirmed that 23-year-old Briton, Adam Khan, will join the driver line-up to spearhead the team’s demonstration activities for 2009.

Just a week after the R29 was unveiled in Portugal, the ING Renault F1 Team’s drivers, Fernando Alonso, Nelson Piquet and Romain Grosjean, joined key personnel at Renault’s flagship venue on the Champs Elysees to officially present the new car to the team’s partners and announce Adam Khan as the team’s demo driver. The young driver of Asian descent will demonstrate the Renault F1 R28 at both city demonstrations and circuit presentations for World Series by Renault events.

"We are pleased to welcome Adam into the ING Renault F1 Team as our demonstration driver," commented Managing Director Flavio Briatore. "Our demonstration programme gives young talent the chance to work closely with the team and to showcase their skills behind the wheel of our Grand Prix cars. Adam now has the chance to demonstrate the talent he has shown throughout his career and to gain valuable experience working at the pinnacle of the sport."

"It’s an honour for me to join the ING Renault F1 team and I really can’t wait to get started," said Adam as he was presented at l’Atelier Renault."I have enjoyed a really warm welcome into the team and everyone has been friendly and helpful. It will be awesome to showcase the R28 on the streets of some of the world’s greatest cities and to allow the public to witness the power and speed of an F1 car. The opportunity in itself encompasses a huge array of things and is fantastic preparation for the future, which I hope with hard work and commitment, as well as enjoyment, will be a bright one."

Adam will make his debut for the team when the Roadshow programme kicks off in the Middle East in the early part of 2009.

AN EXTRAORDINARY DEBUT SEASON FOR TP FORMULA

The TP Formula debut season ended last weekend in Magione, a season full of successes and satisfactions that has seen the Italian team playing the role of the big protagonist in the Euroseries 3000 thanks to its leading driver, Adam Khan who fight for the title up to the last race, despite having missed the first three rounds.

In the first of the two races scheduled in Magione the Anglo-Asian has been author of a perfect start overtaking, at the first turn, the other title contender Prost. The son of the 4 times F1 champion has not been able to regain the position and instead, after a few meters, has put an end to his race in a contact with Leal. Khan has then conducted his race without smudges despite the tricky track conditions and a shower that, in mid-race, has created further difficulties. The fast tires change made by team has allowed Khan to end the race in front of Onidi, taking him out of the fight for the title and reducing the gap from Prost to 5 points.

In the second race a jump start by Razia has created a big confusion on the track. The Brazilian, realizing his mistake, has then stopped in the middle of the grid, just ahead of Khan who has therefore lost a lot of positions in order to avoid Razia car. With just six points available, Khan instead of defending his second position in the Series decided to push hard and try to gain a podium that, with Prost soon struggling in the back, would have meant the European Champion title.

In a few laps he has already recovered up to fifth position, but forced to drive always at the limit, at lap 10, a still wet kerb has seen the title vanish on the gravel where the car remained unfortunately stuck not allowing Khan to rejoin the race.

The disappointment for a title vanished for just a few points, the same lost in accidents in which the Anglo-Asian has been an innocent protagonist, as the one triggered by Crestani in Barcelona or the one caused by Prost in Valencia, does not obscure the great satisfaction for an extraordinary season that has found in Adam Khan the absolute protagonist of the Euroseries 3000 since its debut in the Series in the fourth round: from that moment he has been the driver to obtain the highest number of points, he scored three wins and went on the podium six times, a record that none of the other drivers has been able to overcome.

Adam Khan:
"I would like to thank all the team for the wonderful support and I’m really happy for having paid back all their efforts bringing the car to the front so many times. Everybody in the team, all the engineers, all the mechanics have been super and very professional. I look forward to work with them again in the future anytime anywhere ".

Gianluca Pomozzi (TP Formula):
"We are obviously disappointed for having missed the title when it was so close, but we can’t be other than extremely satisfied for a season that has seen our team playing a strong role in the Euroseries 3000. In our debut season we have been the team to score most pole positions and we have fight for the title until the last race, a title that we would have likely won with wide margin if Khan had not been obliged to skip the first three races. Our thanks obviously go to Adam who, besides the extraordinary results that he scored for us, with his extremely professional attitude and his hard work has enabled the team to grow race after race and helped us to consolidate a winning staff. We spent together a fantastic season, both from a professional and personal point of view and so we all wish him all the best for his career sure that he will be able to obtain the deserved successes. As a team we have now shown to have a great potential and we are now even more motivated and eager to begin the 2009 season, hoping to be able to continue on the path to success".
